In the capital, we completed the project of modernization of the building of the Customs Department

In Vilnius, A. Jakšto Str. 1, the renovated building of the Lithuanian Customs Department opened its doors. After the completed works, the building fundamentally changed its appearance. The object managed by the “Turto bankas” has become more energy efficient and enriched with the most modern comfort and security solutions. For the renovation of the building, which has been counting for more than 70 years, the customer allocated almost 7 million euros.
The building, located at Jakšto Str. 1, was completed in 1954. During its long service life, the building deteriorated, and its energy class reached category D. The examination of the building revealed that most of the building elements did not meet the required requirements, which significantly increased energy consumption.
By renovating the building, it will save about 246 thousand kWh per year. Around 17 tons less of CO2 will be released into the environment.
The positive energy savings will be achieved through the insulation and renovation of the facade of the building and the replacement of the worn-out roof covering. In the old building, sewage, water supply and electrical installation systems were updated. The replacement of exterior doors and windows will not only improve airtightness but also enhance sound insulation in this busy part of the capital.
The building’s interior has also undergone noticeable changes. Conveniently planned premises allowed to create modern workplaces, to install a recreation area and conference halls. The interior design is adapted to make the building accessible to people with disabilities.
When renovating the building, great attention is paid to employee comfort and safety. The right temperature in summer and winter will be ensured by advanced heating, cooling, and ventilation solutions. The building has become much safer — the fire and security alarm system has been updated, modern surveillance cameras as well as the access control system have been installed.
“At first glance, the seemingly simple reconstruction project quickly became a very meaningful challenge for our team. During the first visit, we understood: when modernizing, we must preserve the unique interior details of this building. I am proud of clients who also have respect for history and value authenticity. This allowed us to create a sustainable and modern building that protects the history of all of us for future generations.” — shared Tadas Grincevičius, CEO of Naresta.
