Construction begins on the first complex of Europe’s largest biotechnology city

We officially marked the start of construction work on the first complex of Northway Group’s BIO CITY, Europe’s largest biotechnology city, with a time capsule buried in the foundations of the 8,000 square metre building!

“It is a great honour and responsibility for us to contribute to the strengthening of Lithuanian biotechnology. We are happy that the work has already started and in the second quarter of 2024 we will be able to be proud of the result – the first Gene Therapy Centre in the Baltic States, where research and production of innovative gene therapy drugs will be carried out!”, says Tadas Grincevičius, Naresta CEO.

Over the next decade, BIO CITY will be home to the R&D and Virology Centre, the Life Sciences Industry Smart Services Centre, the Stem Cell Research and 3D Bioprinting Centre, and 6 large biotech complexes in total. They will bring together core areas of biotechnology research and production. Thousands of domestic and foreign scientists, biotechnologists and engineers will work here, creating high value-added products and services and promoting Lithuania’s name worldwide.
